Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I visit the dentist?
The American Dental Association and the Kern Family Dentistry team recommend visiting the dentist at least two times each year. These six month checkups give us the opportunity to evaluate your smile for signs of decay or other oral health concerns and provide quick, conservative care to help patients maintain their smiles for life.
Does dental technology really matter to me?
Most patients never notice our technology, and that’s just the way we like. However, the advanced techniques and technologies we use in our practice make it possible to give patients faster, more conservative, and more effective treatment options saving them time, money, and discomfort.
How does same day dental restoration work?
Our team uses the CEREC computer assisted design and manufacture (CAD/CAM) system to capture digital impressions of teeth ready to be restored. These digital impressions are more comfortable for patients who don’t have to bite down on the goopy impression materials we traditionally utilize. The impressions are then sent to the CEREC milling unit where a custom dental restoration is crafted from high quality ceramic using this design. Finally, we carefully place the restoration making any final adjustments. All in just one visit.
Can I call if I have an emergency?
We’re happy to help patients who are experiencing dental emergencies. Call our office right away. In many cases, we’re able to offer same day appointments, and when we cannot, our helpful team will walk you through protecting your smile until we can see you.
Should I consider dental implants?
Any patient missing a single tooth or a full arch of teeth should consider dental implant supported tooth replacement. This is the only tooth replacement option available that replaces the entire tooth from the roots up not just the visible parts of your smile making it the ideal smile restoration option.
Do you take my insurance?
We are happy to process and file dental insurance claims for any provider, and we are in-network with a number of benefit plans including Delta Dental, BlueCross BlueShield, MetLife, AFLAC, CIGNA, and United Concordia.
Is Kern Family Dentistry involved in the community?
